Sonic Mania Adventures is a 2D animated web-series made on March 30th of 2018 that follows a young blue hedgehog sent back to his world after the events of another happening. Robotnik is seen stealing the Chaos Emeralds and doing his other old shenanigans, it's up to Sonic and his friends to start saving the day!

Plot[]
The classic figure called Sonic gets sent back to his world after rescuing another timeline. Upon arrival, he sees the evil Dr. Robotnik causing trouble again on Angel Island. Sonic decides to stop his evil deeds but needs help from his best friend Tails and other companions, including Knuckles, Mighty and Ray.
After the evil counterpart of Sonic has all the Chaos Emeralds in power, Sonic and friends need to stop the evil villain from his wrongdoings.

Sonic the Hedgehog[]

Sonic the Hedgehog is the eponymous protagonist who is a blue anthropomorphic hedgehog with bright red sneakers and various quills. He is a born hero who got teleported to save an alternate timeline with his other counterpart. After appearing back in his home world, Sonic sees the evil doctor, Dr. Robotnik, is back up to his wrongdoings. It's up to him again to defeat Dr. Robotnik from disturbing the peaceful animals and capturing the Chaos Emeralds.
Miles "Tails" Prower[]

Miles Prower, commonly known by his nickname Tails, is the deuteragonist who is a two-tailed fox (hence the alias) and is incredibly intelligent as well. He owns his Tornado bi-plane and helps his best friend Sonic the Hedgehog defeat the other evil genius, called Dr. Robotnik, together with his creation Metal Sonic.
Knuckles the Echidna[]

Knuckles the Echidna is the tritagonist and an anthropomorphic echidna named after his incredible combat using his knuckles. He mostly keeps a serious tone, especially when it's about guarding the enormous gem called the Master Emerald.
Mighty the Armadillo[]

Mighty the Armadillo is an anthropomorphic armadillo and one of the protagonists with a giant red thick armor on his back. He is a strong fighter who isn't always serious, which is mostly shown alongside his best buddy Ray the Flying Squirrel. He helps fight off Dr. Robotnik and Metal Sonic and their evil deeds.
Ray the Flying Squirrel[]

Ray the Flying Squirrel is an anthropomorphic squirrel and is one of the protagonists. An energetic best friend of Mighty the Armadillo, Ray has the ability to glide around places mid-air. He and his newfound friends help defeat Dr. Robotnik and Metal Sonic.
Dr. Robotnik[]
Main Article: Dr. Robotnik
Dr. Ivo Robotnik, sometimes nicknamed as Dr. Eggman, is the main antagonist and has a lot of hatred for Sonic and his friends for ages. He keeps inventing new machines with his incredible 300 IQ rate, but he always fails to his foes, yet, he never stands back. He will never surrender in beating the hedgehog.
Metal Sonic[]
Main Article: Metal Sonic
Metal Sonic is the secondary antagonist based on his placeholder Sonic the Hedgehog, but wants to instead defeat him mimicking his talents and abilities. Created by the evil genius Robotnik, Metal Sonic follows orders from the villain.
Amy Rose[]
Main Article: Amy Rose
Amy Rose is a pink anthropomorphic hedgehog with a red ribbon and green vest and has a love interest for Sonic the Hedgehog. She can be kind and sweet until she equips her Piko Piko Hammer as a weapon or for defense.
Production[]
Sonic Mania Adventures began production back in 2017, with Tyson Hesse serving as the art director for the series. The series was first revealed at the "Gotta Go Fast" Sonic panel at SXSW in March 2018 with some concept art and a teaser trailer. There, it was revealed that the series would consist of five short animated episodes that would be released online on the official Sonic the Hedgehog YouTube channel for everyone to see for free. The series was to follow a monthly release, with exclusive Sonic Mania Adventures merchandise being made available in America, Australia and New Zealand at www.shop.sega.com for each episode as it goes live.
It had been confirmed that the series was to feature no dialogue; every plot element would be conveyed using visual clues.
On 19 December 2018 —five months after the previous episode— a sixth episode was announced to release on 20 December 2018 as a holiday special.
